Every few weekends my husband and I try to go out to dinner. Usually my makeup isn’t up to par with what I’m wearing. Remember Five Minute Mom Face? Well, that’s what I wear usually. Or no makeup at all.
And quite frankly – it works! But that’s if I’m going to the grocery store, running errands, going to Target, or having lunch with a friend. However, it doesn’t really work for going out on a hot date with my sweet.
So, it is important that I have a makeup routine I can use before we are going out on our date that doesn’t take a million hours to do. Something quick, yet something presentable.
Here’s how I got that look:
1) I did the Five Minute Mom Face routine. Simple enough, right?
2) I took my favorite eyeshadow palette from Sephora – “In the Nude.” I brushed the deep brown above my lashline and in my eye crease. Then I lined my eyes with that same brown.
3) I added a little extra blush and bronzer. But remember – no Snooki.
4) I picked out a fun lipstick color that I love – but one that was sheer. Revlon Lip Butter in “Raspberry Pie.” Beautiful!
The whole process takes me about 5 minutes maximum. So in 10 minutes you can have a fantastic date night look!
Before and after? Okay. ‘Cause I love before and afters.
Disclaimer: I am in no way responsible for any children that are born 9 months after you do your makeup like this. Just sayin’.
Here’s the reality … It’s really not that difficult to look presentable. Sure, it takes a few minutes out of our day. And there ARE some days where I live in yoga pants and a t-shirt. But my husband is important to me, and he DOES notice how I look. He’s patient and quiet when I have my crummy days, but I do see how he responds to me when I make the effort. And I end up getting, “You look pretty today…” or “Oo hey hottie. Have a hot date or something?” And those feel wonderful all of the time. So do the hiney smacks when I’m walking away from him.
Invest in yourself and you’ll be amazed at how your husband responds. As hard of a pill as it is to swallow, and as much as it makes you want to kick him in his teeth, our husbands do respond to us physically. So join me … the stay at home wife/mother of a 5 month old and let’s make the effort!
