My husband and I make a point to live well within (if not below) our means. Because he is a teacher and needs a professional wardrobe in addition to casual clothing, and the children just won’t stop growing, I have found myself at the bottom of the totem pole as far as clothing purchases go. Not really a problem, except that I’ve recently decided to attempt to look cute at least when leaving the house, so yoga pants and a t-shirt are out… bummer.
I LOVE looking at all the adorable outfits that pop up on Pinterest day after day but the truth is, I don’t have the funds necessary to go out and purchase a whole new “cute” wardrobe. I decided my next best option was to use all those cute “pins” and shop my closet creating looks similar to the ones I find and add to my “Mommy Clothes that aren’t Mom Clothes” board. After finding success with my first attempt at wearing something I pinned I decided to give it another go!
I recently found this outfit…
Now… I’m not a hat or jewelry person BUT I knew I had some orange/red shorts and a striped shirt so this was my attempt…
A bit more of a stretch but I, again, got a few compliments and had to admit it was a ‘pinspired’ outfit.
The shirt is from a now closed store (Jimmyz Surf Shop) and the shorts are Ann Taylor Loft (purchased at a discount store).
I’m starting to enjoy piecing these outfits together, even if I’m getting the general ideas elsewhere. Maybe someday I’ll graduate to actually creating my looks on my own… maybe.
To not looking like a mom… all the time.
