Happy Fall Y’all!
No, I don’t really talk like that. I am, however, one who finds it very sweet when people do. I also LOVE this time of year in Pennsylvania. It really doesn’t get any better. The beautiful colors and the chill in the air that warrants a sweatshirt and sends us all indoors signaling harvest, loads of family time and thankfulness.
Since purchasing our home a little over a year ago, I have definitely stepped up my game a bit with the outdoor decorating. I figure you can’t have that huge awesome porch and not make it look nice, right? Well, I finally got the husband on board and while I would have spent $100+ decorating the outside, he reigned me in a bit and I believe we kept it to right around $50. Not too bad considering we were starting with nothing but a wreath Kelsea made me last year and one pot of Mums from one of my daycare kidos grandma… they just love me! 😉
The cornstalks were a must for me and, though I received ridicule from my mother for purchasing them, I think they’re adorable. I will say they were only $4 each and we were already buying the pumpkins and flowers so I didn’t worry about getting them from her house. In the future I’ll attempt to get them for free I suppose.
My main goal was to create a welcoming entrance so I went with two small arrangements on either side of the door. As I mentioned before, the wreath is a Kelsea original. The white bench was built by the husband to be used as seating for the daycare but I ended up being given stools so the bench was moved to the porch. Happy accident I supposed because I love it being out there!
Bench arrangement highlighting the kids’ decorated pumpkins and the awesome white pumpkin that the husband found. Oh yeah, and my kids’ wellies… they live outside. 🙂
I just love this side! The barrel I found in our yard a few months ago. It was filled with dirt, I assume the previous owners had flowers planted in it. I cleaned it all out and had plans of turning it into a table. Well that has yet to happen, big shocker, so I put an upside down bucket inside and set one of my Mums on top. Looks like that baby is planted in there doesn’t it? 😉
The little flowers were brought home from my mother’s house following my kids’ overnight visit. To be honest I’m not sure where they came from but when the girls came home they marched right outside and added them to the décor. I think they look nice there.
That’s it! My fall front porch! If you haven’t decorated yet, I hope you found an idea or two! From here through November, you’re probably going to be getting a lot of Disney/travel ideas from me. I kinda have a one track brain and that’s where I’m going to be. Hopefully though, with the holidays coming, some of the travel tips will be of help. If not, maybe you can stash those Disney tips away for your next visit.
Oh! Be sure to check back for my 25 Days of Christmas basket. I did this with my kids last year and it was a huge hit! I’ll be getting the 2013 edition together before the end of November so I’ll be sure to do a post on it. Definitely a must do for families with small children!
Happy Hump Day!
